The chamber has been founded since 1945 as anon-profit, non- governmental that represents the local business community and has been committed to moving the governrate as a vigorous and well-developed prosperous area.
The current membership of the chamber is 1385 members distributed among the five sectors, which the chamber represents mainly: commerce, industry, agriculture, services & contracts.
It is a self-financing organization, which is realized through rent of real properties belonging to the chamber; annual membership dices paid the members and fees paid in return for services renders to the members and the public.
Its objectives are clearly defined as:
"The promotion of trade. Industry, agriculture & business of this governrate both at home and aboard."
The chamber's goals are to serve local business community in order to raise the income of individuals and to enhance offers a variety of services for its members companies and individuals who are engaged in business. These functions are to issue or certify in return for a fee the following certificate of origin, attestation of origin on commercial invoices:
Attestation conformity with varies norms
Participating in local & international exhibitions and trade fairs.
Promoting investors to setup investment projects.

1- The Chamber Of Commerce is considered the umbrella that represents the private sector's views at the level of district in the aspects of economic life.

2- The main objective of the chamber is the promotion of trade, industry, agriculture & business of the city and surrounding areas, both at home and abroad.
The chamber defends the members'  interests and helps to create a healthy atmosphere of investment and contributes to the promotion of the export & import in the region, there are ten employees whose job is to carry out the activities of the chamber.
